The President of the Portuguese Republic, Prof. Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, on a state visit to Cuba inaugurated in Havana the 1st Business Portugal Forum – Cuba. In a ceremony at the embassy of Portugal that had guests as the ambassadors of Portuguese speaking countries has emphasized the historical relations between Portugal and Cuba.
The Brazil was also alluded by the La Habana Historian Eusébio Leal, being known that Dom Pedro, Emperor of Brazil came to be proposed in 1981 the title of Emperor of Iberia, a vast empire that would stretch from Cuba, through Brazil, Portugal, Spain, the African continent in the colonies of Angola, Mozambique and São Tome and Principe, and reaching the far east in Macau and the Philippines.
The recent economic opening in Cuba is arousing the interest of many entrepreneurs.Particularly in the tourism sector, which in 2016 recorded a growth of 17% in the number of tourists over the previous year. In addition to a delegation of 20 Portuguese businesspeople ceremony was attended by delegates from other Portuguese-speaking countries, including an official of Odebrecht, a Brazilian company with investments of 957 million current dollars in Cuba
